What is Literacy Lab?

Literacy Lab is a community initiative promoting multilingual literacy––a skill that's becoming more and more valuable.

It is an introductory language program that will give students the opportunity to learn about a new language in a fun, engaging manner.

What are the benefits of bilingualism?

Bilingualism will not only offer your child an advantage over others in the competitive job industry, but will also give them the opportunity to learn about other cultures and people.

It also promotes executive function and cognitive development. This skill will open many doors as your child grows older, and will encourage them to become open-minded and advance critical thinking in their growing brains.

How will the classes work?

Classes will be held online through Google Meet or Zoom. There will be two 45-minute classes per week (8 total classes per session).

Our teachers have developed a fun and interactive curriculum to promote retention of the material so that the students are well-situated for using world language in the future.

Is there a fee? Who can sign up?

This program is 100% free! Enrollment is open to all students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Do I need previous experience?

This summer, we will be offering different classes based on age and skill level.

Blue Group: No previous experience needed! These classes are meant to be an introduction to the language.

Red Group: Previous experience is suggested, as these classes will be considered the "next step up" for learning the language. If your child has previously enrolled in the Literacy Lab program, we suggest they join this group.

These groups will be further separated by age so that the material is best suited for your child.
